ANNOUNCEMENTS. . .

 

Music Month at FCC is flying by with great specials, and wonderful concerts
each evening.  One more concert is left:

*	August 16 - acappella quartet, the Silk Cords, 7:30 p.m.

 

Music Month will end with an Outdoor Worship Service/Hog Roast/Potluck
Picnic on Sunday, August 23, Chautauqua Park - Be prepared for a wonderful
day of worship, music, food, games, and more music!  Note:  There are sign
ups at the Welcome Center for games (for kids), and for food (side dish or
dessert).  Sign up ASAP!  Also, bring lawn chairs. 

 

Note to Pairs and Spares class members - Greg Davis and many others in this
class will be out of town next Sunday.  Please feel free to "float" to any
of the other adult classes (Second Miler's, Seeker's, We Rock, and
[everywoman].

 

The adult choir (and any other interested individuals) will be singing the
National Anthem at the Peoria Chief's game on Friday, August 21.  Tickets
are available from Lloyd for $8.00 apiece. 

 

All ladies are invited to a baby shower for Mandy Reed on Sunday, August 30,
1:00 p.m., Fellowship Hall.  Please RSVP at the Welcome Center.  Mandy is
registered at Wal-Mart and Target.  It's a boy!  Call Kasey Mitchell or
Summar Evans if you have questions.  

 

Community-Wide Children's Christmas Show - Rehearsals will be on Thursdays,
6:00-7:00 p.m. at Boss Community Center (221 W. 1st St.) beginning August
27.  The performance will be December 19 at 5:00 p.m.  Auditions will be
held on September 10.  Children must attend the first two rehearsals to
audition; roles will be announced the next week.  Questions?  Call 852-5074

Walk for Life 2009 - Saturday, September 12 - 8:30-10:00 a.m. - Thomas Park
- Wyoming -  The course is a two-mile walk around the park.  Pick up pledge
booklet and start getting sponsors!  One hundred per cent of funds raised
will go to the Pregnancy Resource Center in Toulon.

 

Thank You to the men who helped with the tree removal.  Thanks for your
time, the use of your equipment, and a place to get rid of the tree.  With
everyone working together, it was taken care of in short order.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY NEWS. . .

*	Back to School Lock-In Extravaganza! - 4th-5th-6th graders - Friday,
August 14-Saturday, August 15 - Cost, $10 - See Jared to sign up!
*	Needed:  1st & 2nd Grade Sunday School teacher beginning in
September.

 

UB-1 STUDENT MINISTRY NEWS. . .

*         This week is the last week for summer small groups.

*         August 22 - Service Saturday

*         August 24 - UB-325 resumes on Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:00 p.m.

*         August 30 - UB-1 Back to School Fall Kickoff at Windmont Park

*         September 26 - Operation Fix Stuff

*         October 17 - Six Flags St. Louis

*         Several of our students need to raise money for the Passion
Conference in Atlanta, GA this coming January.  If you have any jobs they
can do to earn money for this trip, please contact Bill at 309-262-8001.

Remember to. . .

**Keep the old cell phones and used ink cartridges coming for recycling
(green box in church office).  Funds received goes to missions.

**Keep signing the troop cards at the Welcome Center.  These cards are
really appreciated by our soldiers overseas.

** Please bring non-perishable food items, paper products, and toiletries to
the marked container in the Main Foyer for the Kewanee Food Pantry.
Donations are taken to the Food Pantry once a month.  Place items in the
container in the Main Foyer.

Congratulations to Tim and Mandy Reed on the birth of their baby boy, Seth
Elliott, on Sunday, August 9.  Seth weighed 3 lb. 8 oz., 17 inches long.
Please pray for Mandy as she struggles with high blood pressure, and for
preemie Seth.  Tim and Sam would appreciate prayers, too!
